Tokyo Twins is an audio-visual collaboration between Tromsø-based artists Anne Ødegård and Simon Daniel Tegnander Wenzel. They work within performance and visual art forms, rooted in electronic music, technology and sub-culture.

Live, Tokyo Twins reflect a musical echo of trance, rave, ragging and industrial culture through their self-proclaimed genre “Eurodeath”, which is inspired by the electronic music of the ’90s and ’00s. Moving seamlessly between ecstasy and despair, Tokyo Twins adopt a cosmic narrative where personal experiences and emotions are transformed into mythologies through fairytale-like expressionism.

In 2015, Tokyo Twins held a site-specific performance in the Emanuel Vigeland Mausoleum, a meditation on the creation of inner landscapes and how technology allows us to understand nature in new ways. Earlier this year, they premiered their video piece ELEMENT, described as “a magic-realistic documentary about identity, blurring the lines between fiction and reality,” based on the artists’ experiences growing up in decentralized, rural areas in southern Norway.

Currently, the duo are working on a clothing line which uses natural materials and dyes and local embroidery, as well as creating handmade wellness products under name HEX, inspired by traditional remedies and witchcraft. Tokyo Twins are also working on their debut album, Let Be Phantasee, to be released in early 2017.
