Insomnia Insights

Insomnia Festival has evolved to become more than a music festival. The festival week is full of interesting events for the music lover, the art enthusiast, and the socially engaged person.

Workshops

Insomnia has always sought to be a creative force of the vibrant music and art community in the north. One of our means to do this is to program a series of workshops each festival, hosted by some of the interesting artists visiting the festival.

This year we are warming up with two workshops happening already during the Kick Off weekend, where you engage with visual creation and/or sound synthesis with Keya Singh and Evil Medved - two very exciting young artists.

During the festival week you can dive into the art of animation and character creation with Nurah Farahat, voice encryption with Jessika Khazrik, and DJing with local heroine O.Blom.

To read more about the workshops and how to register for them, check out our event schedule. Participation is free, but spaces are limited.

Seminars

After previous years success Insomnia will continue to present an exciting and diverse discourse program and daytime events during the festival week.

This year's topics are narratives and cross-cultural dialogue, which will be looked at through the lense of artistic presentations, foods, films and talks.

Join us at Tromsø museum in a research seminar with artist Sebastien Robert on Friday, or participate in our Talkaoke and community events with Ice9 at Tromsø library on Saturday, followed by movie screenings and artist talk with Larissa Sansour at Small Projects!

Exhibitions

Insomnia is proud to present several exhibitions and art installations during the festival week, in collaboration with Inversia Festival in Murmansk, The Tromsø Art Academy and Kurant9000.
