OPEN CALL: RESIDENCY PROGRAM FOR DIGITAL ARTISTS 2022

In collaboration with the team behind Kreativ Teknologi at Tvibit, we invite digital artists to embark on a residency adventure unlike any other in Tromsø, Norway!

Are you a digital media artist seeking an adventure of a lifetime in Tromsø, Norway? Planning to launch or showcase your project into the great unknown like the polar explorers of yore? If you love working on the frontier of digital arts, media, or music, this might be the opportunity for you.

Tvibit in collaboration with Insomnia Festival is offering a 1-month residency program for young, up and coming digital media artists between the ages of 20 - 35 to experience life north of the Arctic circle in Tromsø, Norway. The opportunity allows them to work with their projects - from the 23rd of September to the 23rd of October.

The artist-in-residence will be given full accommodation in Tromsø, stocked with food supplies to last the entire stay and a place to work with their projects at Tvibit´s Media Lab/Makerspace with assistance from members of their Kreativ Teknologi team.

The aim is for these artists to present their work at the PROTO Insights (organised by Tvibit) event on the 19th of October and then experience the entirety of Insomnia Festival (20th - 22nd October) - where you´ll be networking, dancing, exploring and unfolding at the city´s annual festival of electronic music and relative arts.

We look forward to hear from YOU, who has a project where technology and the arts meet. Be it a game project (analog or digital), animation or your next avant-garde masterpiece that you´re in the process of putting together, we'd love to have you with us on this adventure in Tromsø!

To qualify, please fill out the registration form here before the deadline, 1st of August 2022. Successful applicants will be informed by the 7th of August.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR THE ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM 2022?

You must be between 20 - 35 years of age
Digital media artists with a portfolio of past projects.
Able to reside in Tromsø, Norway from the 23rd of September - 23rd October
If traveling with a partner/spouse, the artist in residence will be responsible for their expenses
Applicants must have valid passport and/or visa requirements for travel to Norway

About Tvibit (tvibit.net)
Tvibit is a cultural and creative hub, production centre, competence centre, meeting place and café, all under one roof. It is a place to help people develop their creative talents and ideas, with particular focus on youth culture, music, film and media, creative businesses and creative application of technology. Tvibit is part of Tromsø municipality and is located in the city centre.

Facilities and milleau
Tvibit is offering the workspaces at their Media Lab/Makerspace which includes a powerful media workstation for rendering projects or laptops, high-speed broadband, 3D printers, mocap suits and VR headsets as well as conventional media equipment. The artists will also have access and work closely with Kreativ Teknologi staff members at Tvibit who can assist them during their residency and be involved in networking events run by Insomnia Festival
