The programme also includes a screening of Harun Farocki’s four-part video installation Serious Games I–IV (2009–2010). This seminal work investigates the use of digital game technologies in the U.S. military — from training soldiers in virtual environments to treating post-traumatic stress disorder through simulated battlefield scenarios.

Farocki explores how the logic of video games and war technology intersect, collapsing boundaries between play and combat, preparation and trauma, representation and reality. Serious Games exposes how virtual environments shape not only military practices but also broader cultural imaginaries of war and conflict.
