sIn collaboration with Frozen People Festival in Oulu we are happy to precent the Finnish deejay and label-head Oivo is dedicated to the game. With over 20 years of experience in deejaying and organising club nights, he has developed a refined ear and is always digging for electronic music new and old to share with the audience.

In his sets you can hear his love for UK’s soundsystem influenced club music and dub as well as an affinity for electronic music that sprawls from the lineage of Detroit and Chicago house and techno. 

Deejaying has taken Oivo to share his love of records to cities from Bristol to Bergen and Malmö to Tbilisi. He blends four-on-the-floor beats with broken rhythms and is known to play stylistically varied, whilst maintaining a focused sound. His sets keep you sonically on your toes but feet firmly on the dancefloor and at his gigs you might even hear a dubplate or two, pressed special for the occasion.

On top of deejaying, Oivo runs the club night and record label Elektorni, which has brought names like Tin Man, Al Wootton, Katerina and many more to play in his hometown of Oulu. As a label, Elektorni has released vinyl from artists like Mesak, Daniel Savio and Picture, with the most recent 12″ scheduled for release during Insomnia from none other than Tromsø-legend Ismistik aka Bjørn Torske. 

Through the Arctic Pulse network, the artist exchange with Oulu’s Frozen People festival brings Oivo to Insomnia Festival this year. Earlier in 2025, Insomnia brought DJ Guse to perform at Frozen People in Oulu as part of the same collaboration. The partners from Arctic Pulse who collaborated on this are the City of Oulu, Scene Nord, Musikk i Nordland, and Nordnorsk Jazzsenter.
