REPO: Júlía Mogensen, Liina Holmes & Fredrik Einevoll (IS/FI/NO)

2025

For Insomnia 2025 we present an Audio-Visual commission by Júlía Mogensen, Liina Holmes & Fredrik Einevoll.

REPO – Resonant Polarities is a new east–west Arctic collaboration linking Insomnia (NO), OMVF (FI) and Extreme Chill (IS) to spotlight experimental electronic and audiovisual work shaped by northern environments. Bringing together artists Júlía Mogensen (IS), Liina Holmes (FI) and Fredrik Einevoll (NO), the project channels shared polar sensibilities into a collective creation. Built as a platform for long-term co-curation, residencies and touring between Tromsø, Oulu and Reykjavík, REPO begins with this premiere.

Júlía Mogensen is a classically trained Icelandic cellist whose work spans classical performance and experimental sound art. She has collaborated with artists including Björk, Sigur Rós, Du Yun, Damien Rice, Ólafur Arnalds, Múm, and Dustin O’Halloran, and has appeared at major arts festivals in Iceland and abroad. A former member of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, she now focuses on projects that explore improvisation, composition, and the interplay between performer, instrument, and space.

Fredrik Einevoll is a sound artist from Tromsø, Norway, whose work explores the intersection of landscape, resonance, and perception. Raised on the northern coast, his practice is shaped by the vast acoustics of the sea and the maritime signals that surround it—echoes, pulses, and transmissions that blur the line between nature and technology.

Liina Holmes is a multidisciplinary artist from Oulu, Finland. She prefers to experiment, explore, and to work with a variety of mediums and subject matters. Through color, texture and abstraction, her video based visuals often add an ethereal, dream-like dimension to the conversation between the audio and the visual.

Resonant Polarities is generously supported by BarentKult, Norsk-Finsk Kulturfond and Nordic Culture Fund.
