LYRA // Concert without age limit

On the 18th October, Insomnia in collaboration with Skaņu mežs Festival in Riga presented a program for youth and adults, a free concert without age limit at Haventerminalen.

Normally empty, the room at Havneterminalen was completely transformed into a concert hall, with the stage area in the black box, benches with reindeer skins and cozy bean bags for the audience.

The doors opened at 16:30 and the first concert began at 17:00. Anna Fišere and Miķelis Fišers presented their commissioned work Soul Purifying System. This piece emerged from the series of youth workshops the artists had in Tromsø, Riga and Daugavpils. The next concert involved local workshop participants, who performed ten short pieces by Peter Ablinger & Sylwia Zytynska, which they were practicing for 5 days in Tromsø.The program continued with a dj set by Portuguese dj and producer Nídia, who made the audience stand up and start moving their feet on the dancefloor. The first part of the program was followed by a break, during which we served pizza to the audience.

The evening continued with an audiovisual performance of Alexander Rishaug, which also emerged from the youth workshops in Tromsø, Riga and Daugavpils. Ingrid Bjørnaali created the visuals, which were operated live by Tor Ditlevsen. The final concert of the evening was a breathtaking performance by Stian Westerhus.

It was a beautifully curated program featuring two commissioned works, a program with young participants and two performances that were jointly selected by Insomnia and Skaņu mežs.
