Workshop with Anna & Mikelis Fisere

During the creation phase of the project, Insomnia festival in collaboration with Skanu Mezs organized workshops with youth, hosted by Anna & Mikelis Fisere in Tromsø, Riga and Daugavpils. In Tromsø, the 2-day workshop took place at Grab, a youth club located in a residential area outside of the city center.

This unique and immersive experience targeted young individuals between 10 and 18 years old with interest in sound and music. Together with the composer Anna Fisere and visual artist Mikelis Fisers, the participants explored the world of sound creation and invention, focusing on the development of bizarre musical instruments and sound-producing objects.

Participants were offered a diverse range of materials and techniques, including the exploration of air-powered wind instruments and the use of various toys. They especially enjoyed making balloon dogs and popping them using mechanical toys.

The outcome of the workshop will be presented at the LYRA concerts in Tromsø and Riga as an immersive sound and object installation-performance, where participants and facilitators will become the performers, bringing their creations to life.
