Pierced through the flesh of their ancestry, carrying the Eelam-Tamil struggle over their head, while being pulled by the sonic summoning of their displaced land, காவடி (pronounced Kavadi) situates you amidst temples, by the sea and through the villages of the north. This devotional ceremony unfolds in a rhythmical and spacious crossing of the sights, played alongside field recordings of Nagulan Kavaadi Group and local temple musicians from the Jaffna Peninsula.
Returning to the Insomnia Festival, will be accompanied by VJ and visual artist Ellen Vikström, who will transform the venue into a temple structure -a visual portal that connects Eelam-Tamil land to what lies beyond.
